Strand-by-strand extensions attach a single strand of extension hair to a single strand of your natural hair — often using heat, glue, or keratin bonding.

While it may sound lightweight and precise, this method comes with serious drawbacks:

• Because only one tiny strand of hair is holding the weight, there’s more tension on your own hair — especially with daily brushing, styling, or sleeping.

• Over time, this constant pressure can lead to breakage and thinning, especially in fragile or fine hair types.

       ⚠️ Difficult & Risky Removal

• The strand-by-strand method often makes it very hard to safely remove the extensions.

• If a comb can pass through an extension, then grabbing that tiny bond to remove it without pulling on your natural hair becomes extremely difficult — and can lead to accidental breakage.

Keratin bond extensions use heat to fuse a keratin tip to your natural hair. It may sound appealing because keratin is a protein found in your own hair — but that’s exactly why it’s risky:

• When heated, the keratin bond doesn't just grab the extension — it fuses with the natural keratin in your own hair.

• When it’s time to remove them, this bond doesn’t “let go” easily, and it can pull or damage your natural strands during removal.
