[Serum is the one product you need the most]
In the beginning of your hair extension health, a serum may be all you will need, once the extensions begin to get dry or frizzy you can add additional products according to your stylist recommendations.
How to care for your individual hair extensions:
*You do not have to wash every day, you can just wash the top of your hair if you desire. Some people wash two times a week and some less often. Remember it’s alot of extra hair to care for.

Showering:
-
Press the shampoo into your hair and lightly scrub your scalp.
-
Rinse out all the shampoo completely as it can form dreadlocks from the buildup of shampoo.

Condition the extensions:
-
Pat and squeeze dry your hair after you shower, do not rub your hair with the towel.
-
Do not comb or brush hair when wet, it will snap the extension hair and can break the bond and the hair will slip out.
Using implements:
-
Heat sources such as hair tools can be used on extensions when hair is 100% dry.
When you blow dry your hair, point the hairdryer down the hair shaft. Do not try to create volume using your hairdryer, you will just create a huge mess. You can use Flat irons, and curling irons, avoid the bond area.
When to wash your hair:
-
a great way to do your hair is pick a day, wash your hair and thoroughly dry it, then flat iron it or curl it whichever works best.
-
It is important to flat iron your hair at least twice a month, doing a good flat iron job on your hair so you can brush through to remove all knots and/or dreads. This will help with the longevity of your extensions. Also, pull the extensions apart if you find any of them connecting to the extensions next to them, sometimes the hairs will latch together. If you get dreads or hair extensions that stick together, do not stress about it, it is normal.
** Every 6 weeks: you can get a treatment on your extensions and a good flat iron service before you need to have them removed and replaced. This is a $150 service but can be so worth it and give you some additional months.
How to Care for your Extensions:
-
If you do not want to dry the Extensions, at least dry the bonds and allow your hair to dry naturally.
-
Use a serum on your extensions. Your hair will become dry over time, so using a serum will help with hydration.
**** you got extensions because your hair was flat or thin, and serum is hard to use because you have residual feeling about your hair being flat.... this is not the case, your extensions need this, and you are no longer dealing with thin hair. You have thick voluminous hair and you need serum. :)
-
When going to bed, you can wear your hair in a braid, low ponytail or you can put it in a bun on top of your head.
-
Take Benadryl and Ibuprofen at night for the first week, the extensions will be tight, there is a pillow specifically for your knees and it is amazing to sleep using it at first. DO NOT STRESS OVER THESE ONCE YOU HAVE THEM IN. They will relax and once they do, they become so easy to maintain.
Some myths about Extensions
Extensions CAN NOT BE COLORED, even though people will tell you they can be. It will break them down. They have been colored a completely different way then we color your hair. There will be a chemical interference.
